Cheap Driving Lessons

According to the AA, the average cost of a driving lesson is £24, which isn’t especially a cheap way of learning to drive. This, of course, is based on a qualified “Approved Driving Instructor” who holds the Green Badge rather than the Pink Badge which is what trainee driving instructors hold whilst they are undergoing training towards their Green Badge.

If you work on the basis that the average number of lessons needed to actually ‘pass your test’ is around the 44 mark then you could be looking at a cost of around £1,000 not including the cost of the tests themselves. That’s quite an expense if you’re a young person and finding that sort of money might be hard.

The cheaper option for driving lessons

If you’ve hunted around trying to find the best deals for learner driving insurance you’ll no doubt have drawn a blank as most of the well known insurance companies have almost closed shop on offering fully comprehensive insurance whilst you’re learning to drive but there are some cheap options if you know where to look but you need to consider if these options suit your style of learning.

The norm is, find a decent instructor, book your slot and away you go! Cheap driving lessons can be done on the well, erm… cheap! All you need is fully comprehensive insurance in your own name whilst you are actually learning and there are companies that will provide fully comp cover for you from only £2.72 per day – Yep, you heard me right… £2.72 per day!

So, here’s what you do, providing this appeals to you in the first place. Get your own learner driver insurance in your own name but make sure before you buy your learners insurance that you have a ready supply of fully qualified drivers who’ll be happy to sit alongside you in the passenger seat and give you encouragement, help and advice. The good news here is that your parents will likely be very relieved that you don’t have to go under their own policies as this could be quite expensive for them and any accidents that you may be responsible for could cost them some serious money, by way of increased car insurance policy renewals.

Once you’ve got your list of family or friends who are fully qualified and are willing to accompany you (this does take nerve so make sure you thank them in buckets full) then simply go to one of the specialist learner driving insurance companies and take out your own ‘Cheap Driving Lessons’ insurance policy!

Cheap driving lessons are that simple!
